DONGOLA, IL (KFVS) - Union County Sheriff David Livesay is now calling a Thursday night death in rural Dongola a suspected homicide, and he's identified the victim as Gerald W. Dziczowski.
Dziczowski, 57, was found dead at his home at 250 Kimber Road Thursday night, Livesay said. An autopsy was performed Friday, but the cause of death was not being released pending further investigation.
A neighbor said she hadn't seen Dziczowski lately but had thought nothing of it until Thursday night.
"We usually see him out in his yard. He'll wave as you go by," said Julie Baker. "I haven't seen him all week out and about. It made me wonder, but I didn't think nothing because he's always going to Chicago."
An investigation into Dziczowski's death is ongoing, and Livesay is looking to the public for help. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Union County Sheriff's Department at (618) 833-5500.
