FAIRFIELD, IL (KFVS) - A young Wayne County, IL, bowhunter died Thursday night after being by his 16-year-old hunting partner, according to an employee of Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield.
The victim was identified as Aaron Long, 20, of Fairfield. According to the funeral home employee, Long's hunting partner shot him in the back with a bow around 7 p.m. after mistaking Long for a turkey.
It was dark outside at the time, the employee said, and Long was wearing camoflauge.
A spokesperson for the state's attorney's office told Heartland News the case is under investigation, but did not know whether charges may be filed.
