Man arrested near school in Massac County, IL

METROPOLIS, IL (KFVS) - A call into police about two suspicious persons near a school ends with the arrest of a Metropolis, Illinois man on Thursday, April 11.

According to Metropolis Police, the principal at the local Jr. High School called police to report there were two suspicious people walking around the front parking lot.

The principal also stated that one of the people had a large knife on his side.

After arriving to the scene and confronting the subjects, police say one man gave a false name. Police say he was later identified as Terry S. Kirks, 33 of Metropolis.

Kirks was arrested on an aggravated domestic battery warrant issued by Massac County.

During a search of Kirks’ clothing, police say they found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and brass knuckles. Kirks reportedly told police the shorts he was wearing were not his.

Kirks was booked into the Massac County Detention Center.
