CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - There is a new Crappie regulation for fishers at Wappapello Lake.

As of March 1, the regulation will be a daily limit of 30 crappie, but not more than 15 fish can be greater than 9 inches in total length.

That is according to the The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) Commission.

The previous regulation of a daily limit of 30 and a nine-inch minimum length limit has been in place since 2006.

MDC officials say the new regulation will also increase the opportunity for anglers in poor years, and also to harvest the slow growing Black Crappie.
