Violent crime down in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Cape Girardeau Police Cheif Wes Blair says violent crime was down in 2018 vs. 2017.

In a tweet, the chief stated violent crime was down by 17 percent.

Gun crimes were down 5 percent and overall crime by 4 percent.

"Very proud of our officers that worked tirelessly to make those stats a reality," Tweeted Blair.

The chief presented the numbers to the City Council on Monday, Feb. 19.
