CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Missouri Department of Transportation are working around the clock treating the roads and getting cleaned off as soon as possible.
MoDOT maintenance supervisor Nathan Hunt said they start treating the roads about a day and a half before the storm is expected to hit to make sure they can get to all the roads.
He asked drivers to leave room between them and the trucks treating the roads.
“The best thing to do would be to at least stay back 100 feet. There is stuff that will spray off the trucks and the oncoming traffic can throw it on you so there is that hazard out there,” said Hunt.
Hunt said they still have about 60 percent of their salt supply, which is good for this time of year.
He told us once the winter weather moves out, they will transition to fixing potholes.
