WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The discovery of a young child found running in a field without any clothing is under investigation in Williamson County, Illinois.
A child approximately three-years-old was spotted running naked in an open field near Cambria, Il. around 7 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12.
According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, a person who witnessed the child in the field alerted authorities and placed the child in their vehicle to protect them from the weather.
Williamson County deputies, Cambria police and Cambria Ambulance responded to the call.
The child was checked-out by first-responders and report the child was not physically hurt.
Cambria Police then transported the child to their station as authorities tracked down the child’s parents.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says the parents of the child were found at their home which is located near the field where the three-year-old was found alone.
The parents report they were unaware that the child had left the home.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) was contacted.
After an interview with police and other children in the home, the Sheriff’s Office says DCFS took steps in making sure the children are safe in the future.
DCFS is investigating.
