Woman rescued after car crashes into Franklin Co. river

FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - A woman was rescued after her vehicle went into a river on Sunday, Feb. 10.

According to Franklin County Emergency Management Agency Director Ryan Buckingham, the incident happened on Yellowbanks Rd., just east of the Muddy River.

A woman was driving the vehicle when it went into the river.

When crews arrived, the woman was sitting on top of her vehicle while it was completely submerged in the water.

She was able to be rescued and was uninjured.

The Franklin County dive team dove under the water to hook onto the vehicle to raise it out of the water.

The vehicle was then towed.

Franklin County EMA was assisted by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin County Highway Department, West City FD, Benton FD and Abbott EMS.
