MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - The United State Marshals Service and the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office arrested a wanted fugitive after a hours long standoff.
Authorities began searching for fugitive 37-year-old Jesse Derrick Branham on Friday, Feb. 8.
On Saturday, Feb. 9, deputies received information that Branham was staying at the Murray Inn and Art Gallery on S. 12th St.
Shortly after law enforcement arrived at the hotel, Branham came to the door, opened it and pointed a handgun at deputies.
He then went back into the boom and hid inside with his girlfriend and their infant child.
After hours of negotiating, he came out of the room with his girlfriend and child and pointed his weapon at officers who were trying to get a hold of the girlfriend and child.
After several tries, both the girlfriend and child were removed safely from the room.
He then went back into the room and barricaded himself for several more hours.
Branham exited the room armed but dropped the handgun and was taken into custody.
No one was injured in the incident.
Branham was lodged in the Calloway County Jail.
