In 1971, the Southeast Missouri State University Golden Eagle Marching Band took to the field at Super Bowl V in front of more than 70,000 people.

“Looking up and seeing all those people and Mr. Mason said to me 'everybody’s watching, take ‘um out.’ And I knew this is it, we have to do it, and we ran on the field.”

She gave Band Director LeRoy Mason credit for getting the band an opportunity to perform on this grand stage.

Before the “Blunder Bowl” with the Baltimore Colts and Dallas Cowboys, the Golden Eagles took the field.

The band shared the time with singer Anita Bryant and trumpeter Tommy Low who played the National Anthem.

This year at Super Bowl LIII the Patriots and Rams will go head to head.
