Water main breaks in Perryville, MO due to cold

PERRYVILLE, MO (KFVS) - The cold has caused a water main break in Perryville, Missouri.

According to Charlie McCloud with the Public Works Department this is at the intersection of W Ste Maries St and W North St.

North Moulton was closed at St Joseph St while crews repair the water main break. The road is now open, but drivers are urged to use caution because there could be some ice from the water break.

McCloud said when the temperatures are this cold with no snow on the ground there is nothing to keep the ground insulated and more breaks tend to occur.

Phone lines are blocking the area crews need to work in as well.

Officials with the City of Perryville warned of ice covering the road way.

Update as of 11:20am: N Moulton Street is now OPEN. Please use caution in that area as ice has developed. Thank you...

The break happened around 10 p.m. last night and crews were called out 11:59 p.m.

He said they are going to try and keep the water turned on in the surrounding areas and avoid a later boil water order.
