Gator giveaway to help area food banks

SEMO Food Bank partners with Greenway

SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) - A $10 donation could make you the winner of country singer Jason Aldean’s John Deere Gator.

Aldean has signed the windshield and donated his gator to Greenway Equipment for a contest to raise money and awareness for three area food banks.

Tickets to enter the contest are $10 with 100 percent of the proceeds going towards the Backpack Programs at the Southeast Missouri Food Bank, Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas and the Arkansas Food Bank.

The Gator is on display at the Poplar Bluff Farming Expo.

Donations will be accepted there or here.

The winner of the prize will be announced on Friday, Jan. 25.

The Senior Vice President of Greenway Equipment, a supporter of the Backpack Programs for the last seven years, says the program is about feeding children in our communities and he can’t imagine a child going hungry.

“No child in our area should ever go hungry. So if you’re looking for a reason for why you should volunteer, or a reason why you wouls contribute. 1 out of 4 children face food insecurity in our area. If that’s not enought to get you motivated to participate, then you really need to look internally.”
Rick Bormann, Greenway Equipment, Sr. Vice President

The Backpack Programs supplies a child with food every weekend for the entire school year.

Through the three food banks, 4,600 children benefit from the Backpack Programs.

The program costs $350 per child for the year.
