PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - A woman was arrested after admitting to taking thousands of dollars from an elementary school’s PTO account.

Rachel Morgan Hall, 37, was charged with theft by failure to make required disposition of property $10,000 or more.

On Janurary 16, Paducah Bank contacted Reidland Elementary School about unusual account activity.

The school contacted the sheriff’s office in McCracken County asking for a detective to take part in a meeting with the bank.

Detectives learned that since August 2017, around $38,000 had been removed from the PTO account in cash, Paypal transfers or internet purchases. They realized that only one person could be using the account, which was Hall, the PTO Committee President.

On January 17, detectives spoke with Hall and she admitted to having removed the money from the PTO bank account.

She told detectives she used the money to pay bills and purchase items for herself.

Hall reportedly said that at first it was only going to be a small amount of money, just enough to make ends meet - but things spiraled out of control.

Detectives expect the initial amount of $38,000 taken to decrease.
