CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Cape Girardeau Public Works director Stan Polivick said they get nearly 100 calls, but a lot of them aren’t about issues the department handles.
Polivick said people underestimate all the things the public works department does, including:Potholes, grade alleys, sweep street, tree removal/trimming from roads, standing water, erosion, inlet obstructed/loose, ditch obstructed, sewer backup, sewer leak, slow drains, sewer odor, traffic light malfunction, sign missing/damaged, deliver/get/repair/replace trash and/or recycle carts, etc.
But, he said if time and resources allow they can get to most problems pretty quickly.
“We’re not over staffed but we’re able to keep up for the most part. It would always be nice to have a few more people and a few more pieces of equipment to help us get some things done but we’re not dramatically understaffed either we’re able to for the most part get to the service request within a reasonable amount of time," said Polivick.
If you need to contact the Public Works Department there are a number of ways you can do it.
