Pink Up: Tax credits provide an added bonus for donators

Pink UP: Tax credit for Pink Up donation

(KFVS) - Are you looking for a way to give back this year? A donation to Pink Up through the Saint Francis Foundation has an added perk this year. Now there is a way you can help your neighbor and help your bottom line with a tax credit.

“Anybody wants to see their dollar go farther," said Jason Coalter, president of The Printing Co. He said the tax credit through donating to Pink Up is a win win for his company.

“When you can get involved in something you are already passionate about and there are additional benefits that go along with it, it would be silly not to take advantage of that opportunity,” explained Coalter.

Christy LeGrand, Saint Francis Foundation Grants Administrator, said the process is very easy but there are a few things to keep in mind.

“To qualify for tax credit the donations need to be at least 500 dollars and they need to be either from a business or and individual who has business income,” said LeGrand. “After you hit the 500 dollar minimum you’ll get a 50 percent tax credit. Tax credits are important because they are not just a tax deduction, a tax credit is after you calculate your total tax you can take your tax credit off you bottom line," explained LeGrand.

LeGrand said if you don’t need the credit this year you can roll it over for up to five years.

Jason Coalter said his company likes to give back to things their clients love, and with so many impacted by cancer, this was a simple decision.

“We’ve all been touched by loved ones that had cancer,” said Coalter.

As of today, the Pink Up tax credit program is set to run through June of 2019. If you are interested in donating you can call the Saint Francis Foundation at 573-331-3950.
