Messy winter storm still on track for today and tonight and into Saturday. A few minor adjustments but overall still looking cold and wet with a variety of precip types…potentially heavy at times. We’ve had a bit of mixed precip move through this morning but main event will be later this afternoon thru tonight and into early Saturday. Column temps and dew points point to every type of precip….trending more toward snow north and rain south…..although warming and then cooling with time overnight and Saturday. Still looks as though northern counties closer to Farmington to Mt. Vernon could end up with close to a foot of heavy wet snow….while southern counties will likely get no snow at all. On the other hand….much of the region could get quite a bit of sleet and even a little freezing rain at times…even mixed with the snow at times.
System winds down west to east on Saturday….with the rain/snow dividing zone farther north so more cold rain and drizzle for much of the region. On Sunday we get a bit colder again…with a continued chance of some light snow especially north. In any event….a cold, dreary day. As we go through next week we’ll have mainly dry conditions with slowly moderating temps….although there is a signal for a chance of some light rain late in the week.
